Memorable events happen at BIMA

Modern ambiance awaits your guests in BIMA’s versatile venue. Influenced by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, BIMA’s light-filled galleries offer award-winning architecture and artistic flair.

Just a short (and awe-inspiring) trip from Seattle, and easily accessible from the Kitsap Peninsula, BIMA is the perfect location for any occasion.

No matter the size or type of event—whether an intimate rehearsal dinner, an inspiring wedding, stimulating conference, or rollicking office party—we have the right space and event plan for you!

“Northwest Designer Craftsmen really appreciated being at BIMA for our Annual Board Retreat. Thank you for taking such good care of us: for greeting us, having equipment available, for reserving a lunch table. We had a wonderful lunch at your Bistro. We had a very productive meeting, we loved looking at the art and meeting Chief Curator Greg Robinson.”

– Lois Harbaugh, President of Northwest Designer Craftsmen

Event Rental FAQs

What do I need to do in order to secure the space?

  • A deposit is required to secure your date at BIMA.
  • 100% of rental fees are to be paid at the time of Agreement.

What if I need to cancel my event?

  • 100% is refundable at 90+ days prior to the event.

  • No refund available at less than 60 days prior to the event.

Is there on-site parking?

BIMA’s complex, Island Gateway, offers designated spots for BIMA visitors in the upper lot and underground garage, as well as general parking in surrounding areas. For guests arriving from Seattle, it’s a quick walk from the ferry terminal.

Is dancing allowed?

Dancing is not allowed in the galleries due to the proximity to fragile art pieces. However, to avoid being too much of a Footloose Debbie-downer, dancing is allowed in the Bistro and on the plaza.

Can I use an outside caterer?

Catering is only allowed through the BIMA Bistro or by one of its approved caterers. Any of the selections will make your mouth water!

Are there any restrictions on decor?

Part of the beauty of hosting an event at an art museum is most of the decorations are taken care of before you even set foot in the door. However, BIMA understands that you may want to add some additional flair to your event. Please note, however, BIMA does not allow: balloons, tall candles, floral arrangements from non-certified sources, tape or tacks on the wall, or anything that could harm the building or art.

Can I hang artwork in the Museum as part of my event?

BIMA has a selection of easels and tables that can be used to temporarily display non-Museum art.

My event is open to the public. Will BIMA help promote it?

BIMA does not promote rental events. For a fee of $40, BIMA will add your event to the Museum’s online calendar so visitors can access your event information directly. Please allow one week for posting.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

It is possible to bring outside alcohol. You will be required to obtain your own permits, ice, glassware, and pay a corkage fee. BIMA can still provide bartending services.

Can I bring my own cake?

Yes, but it must be prepared by a kitchen that has been certified by the Washington State Health Department.
