Kumi Korf: A World of Her Own

Kumi Korf (Ithaca, NY) is an observer of life—every moment impresses upon her and her work. Korf is an intaglio printmaker, book artist, painter, and architect. The hardships of World War II, and loss of her sister figure deeply in her life story while the architecture and festivals of Japanese culture are indelible in her work. Yet, she is ultimately about this very moment—connected to the eternal through the stroke of a brush. Korf’s retrospective is a collaboration with the Center for Book Arts in New York City, which was curated by Catherine Alice Michaelis, Associate Director of the Cynthia Sears Artist’s Book Collection in Summer 2023.
