Featured Film – Precious

R | 1 h 50 m | Drama | 2009

Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire and directed by Lee Daniels, this story takes place in 1987 and shows the life of a sixteen-year-old girl Claireece “Precious” Jones as she struggles with illiteracy and self-worth, all while being pregnant with her second child. The constant want to escape her life leads to Precious daydreaming herself into glamorous situations. The film captures struggle, abuse, love, and pain.

“While it may not be perfect on a technical level, dramatically it’s a blow-your-socks-off triumph. Be moved. Very, very moved. ” – Angie Errigo, Empire
