Our Words Are a Reflection of Ourselves

See artist Mare Blocker giving a talk in the auditorium where she will share about her community dictionary featured in the Power of the Presses exhibition at BIMA.

The My Beloved Community Dictionary began in 2016 and was completed in January 2025, with 100 artists and poets contributing to the book. Dictionaries, and the words in them, reflect the times they are written in. Project contributors will speak about their word choices, their acts of avowal, their calls, their pleas, their humor. Our Community.

ABOUT MARE BLOCKER

She has published 69 limited edition titles, almost five hundred unique artist’s books, and numerous broadsides and prints. Her work has been placed in over 100 museums, libraries, and public collections internationally.
