Embroidery Boot Camp with Lou Cabeen
Past Event

Learn the four basic embroidery stitches and apply your newfound skills to exploring myriad variations. Beginning with traditional materials in order to understand the physics of how thread, hand, cloth and needle work together, you’ll also experiment with non-traditional stitching media and surfaces. Embellishment techniques will also be covered so that you can create a dimensional frame for an individual sampler or small stitched collage of found objects.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Lou Cabeen is a Seattle artist who works with a range of media including botanical specimens, textiles, stitching and collage. She uses cloth, paper and stitching in order to emphasize the tactile nature of private experience. Her approach emphasizes the value of daily life and the empowerment that comes from taking the discarded ephemera of our lives and by giving it form, using it to create meaning.
