Eye on Artist: Colette Fu
Past Event

Artist, paper engineer, and photographer Colette Fu combines these passions into extraordinary, one-of-a-kind pop-up books and art pieces. This fall, she is in residency at BIMA, creating a giant carousel book with pop-up elements of a Wishing Tree in the MESA Gallery. She’ll share a presentation on her process, her work, and her inspirations.

Colette received her MFA in Fine Art Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and soon after began an obsession with constructing pop-up books. Since then, Colette has designed pop-ups for award winning stop-motion animation commercials and has freelanced for clients such as Vogue China, Canon Asia and Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton. Her work is included in the Library of Congress, the West Collection and many private and rare archive collections, including the Cynthia Lovelace Sears Collection. Now residing in Philadelphia, Colette has a prolific career as an artist and teaches pop-up courses and community workshops at various art centers, universities and institutions internationally.
