Anne Schreivogl: Meditative Exuberance
Past Exhibition

Schreivogl was born and raised in Seattle and received a BFA from Western Washington University (Bellingham) in 1994. She is a prolific painter and writer and is currently completing a book about creativity. Her work is spontaneous and intuitive, with a large dose of whimsy. She seeks to transmit the joy she sees and feels in everyday activities and also paints plein air landscapes. Her last name means “screeching bird,” and, although she is very allergic to birds, they are prominent in her paintings. She has always carried a pen and sketchpad – whether she has studied in France, taught English in Japan, or during her travels by bicycle across the U.S.

Schreivogl has been the subject of numerous media articles in the Northwest, most recently in American Art Collector, October 2009, and named “Best of the West” for the Northwest by Southwest Art Magazine, August 2006. She was also the featured poster artist for the Port Townsend Film Festival (2014), Anacortes Jazz Festival (2004, 2005), the Anacortes Arts Festival (2006), among others.

She has been represented by Simon Mace Gallery in Port Townsend and Gallery Cygnus, La Conner. Her work can be found in public and private collections nationwide. BIMA is proud to feature Schreivogl in her first art museum solo exhibition.
